From DVSA – New CBT standards check assessment goes live

The changes to the assessment came into effect on Monday 25 January.  The changes move the assessment away from the previous fault-based system which focused on what was taught, to one that now looks at how the trainees are taught.

The standards check is aligned to the National Driver and Rider Training Standard which sets out the criteria that are required for motorcycle trainers.

The assessment is now based around 3 key competencies:

    • lesson planning
    • risk management
    • teaching and learning strategies

The guidance for examiners and trainers involved in motorcycle trainer standards checks is available here, and the motorcycle trainer standards check form can be found here.
